DIY Polka Dot Wrapping Paper

I am part of an awesome mom’s group online. Together, we have been navigating pregnancy and parenthood one milestone at a time. For the holidays, we have decided to do a secret santa gift exchange. I went to wrap my gift and only had black chevron on craft paper. While I love this wrapping paper, I just couldn’t send a Christmas gift in these colors. So, I decided to take matters in to my own hand and pull the supplies I had together and figure out a game plan.

Supplies needed:

White paint
Silver glitter
Paper plate (or something to put paint and glitter on)
Pencil or something that is round
Old wrapping paper

Process:

1. Measure the wrapping paper to the size of the gift you are wrapping and cut it.
2. Using the eraser side of the pencil, dip it in the white paint and make polka dots on the paper. I didn’t care if it was symmetrical, so I just went for it.

3. Using the glitter, sprinkle it over the paint while it is still wet. I didn’t care if all of the paint had an even distribution of glitter, but if you did, perhaps use a spoon to make sure each dot has the same amount of glitter.

Put a small amount of glitter in your hand, and sprinkle it over the wet paint polka dots.

4. While letting the paint and glitter dry, I cut out some stars and snow flakes to add to the package for a special touch. These are special hole punches that I bought at Hobby Lobby and I used old card stock that I had from previous projects.

5. Put the gifts inside the box. Since I will be shipping this, I wanted to cram as much as I could inside a small gift box I purchased from Target. The gift giver in me wanted to give her everything on her list, but the size of the box I had definitely put a limitation on what I could buy her.

6. Add the special touches (cut out stars and snowflakes). I added one of the cards I made for our advent calendar to add a special note.
The contents in the box include:
Pura Vida bracelet (her husband is a sailor and her favorite color is turquoise)  {The turquoise and teal is not currently available}
Bath & Body Works warm vanilla sugar lotion and body wash.
Elf 12 pack of nail polish (from Target)
Random turquoise nail polish I found at Target
Nail file from Bath & Body Works
Julep moisture mask trio (from Sephora)
*She noted, if she had $25 and 1 hour to herself she would paint her nails hence all of the nail products.

7. Now that the paint is dry, wrap your gift, add a cute bow, and you are good to go!
